Middle school result

The Bow Memorial School boys’ soccer team won two games to open the season by a combined scored of 19-0. Isaac Roz (four goals) and Clayton Nadzan (three goals) led the offense, while Sam Kelso, Chase Crowell and Milo Cocola have contributed two goals each. Blake Crowell, Andrew King, and Kyle Cimis played well offensively. The starting defenders Nadzan, Carter Hall and Jack French helped Trey Catenza and Gabe Abberton post two shutouts.

Local golf

Several area golfers competed in the final Valley Seniors Golf Association event of the season Bretwood South Golf Course in Keene. In the age 55-74 gross division, Loudon’s Joe Labontee finished second, carding a 77, and Henniker’s Michael Martin was fourth (80). Henniker’s Ray Martin finished third in the gross 75-92 division (79). Labonte won the age 55-74 net division (65) and Henniker’s Jack Martin was second in the age 75-plus net division (71).

College standout

Weare’s Lilli Stogner, a sophomore on the Plymouth State women’s volleyball team, had a match-high 12 kills to lead the Panthers to a 25-14, 25-18, 25-18 victory over Norwich University. Stogner also had seven digs and four aces to help PSU improve to 4-2.

Public skating

Public ice skating will return to Everett Arena on Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday hours will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Saturday hours will begin Oct. 8 and will also take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Admission will be $6 and free for ages 3 and under. Skate rentals will be available for $6 at the arena’s pro shop. Ice skating lessons will be offered by Concord Parks & Recreation with registration starting in October. Ice skating will continue through March 16. Adult stick practice will be offered for ages 14 and up on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. through March 15. Additional hours will occur Monday through Thursday from 3:30-4:45 p.m. through Nov. 23. Admission will be $10 and free for goalies. Helmet and gloves are required, and full equipment is recommended. Youth stick practice will be available for ages 13 and below on Friday afternoons from 3:30-4:45 p.m. through Nov. 25. Admission will be $10 and free for goalies. Full equipment is required.  BACtober Fest

2nd Annual BACtober Fest 5K Fun Run/Walk will be on Sept. 24 at Gosling Field (35 Albin Road) in Bow. The kids fun run begins at 1:30 p.m. and the 5K begins at 2 p.m. Registration is open at https://runsignup.com/bactoberfest5k and will also be available on race day. There will be grilled food, pizza, beer and other beverages following the race in the lower field of Hanson Park. There will also be lawn games, a dunk tank and inflatable basketball hoops. Registration for just the post-race event is also available. All proceeds will go to the Bow Athletic Club.
